Piano Repairs

Provided the mechanics of a piano are in generally good condition, isolated repairs can be carried out in the home. Such repairs include string replacement, replacing broken hammer shanks or springs and repairing sticking keys.

Major repairs need to be carried out in the workshop and can be anything from case restoration to a complete mechanical overall. I have access to all the trade supplies as used by the major manufacturers themselves.

Regulating

Regulating is the process of adjusting the action so that all the components move evenly and precisely. This affects the touch of the instrument making it easier to play. A piano may well need partial regulating every few years or so, especially if it has been subjected to heavy use or frequent temperature and humidity changes.
